Things I'm Grateful For RSS

Life is good, but it's easy to be negative. This is something originally started as a Lent exercise, but is just an attempt at picking out the positives and being thankful for how lucky I am.

Head Shave

Saturday was a success. It ran (relatively) smoothly, we’ve apparently raised $2000+ and still counting, and it was a fun night for everyone there. I’m glad that working for something is, although hard work at times, also fun and rewarding too.

Thanks if you came or if you’ve supported us before.

Friendly People

Today I had a really friendly bus driver. Not friendly to the point of creepy, but just a great guy. He did things like: get out of his seat to help the old ladies with their shopping bags/trolleys get down off the bus onto the pavement, not jerk the bus the whole way, ask each person that got on how they were, and told each person that got off to have a great day, spoke Chinese with an old Chinese lady (bus driver was white), waved at every bus driver we went past, etc etc.

He even told a joke while we were on the bus and most of the bus was laughing. The ones who weren’t pretty much all had headphones on, and then took them off to see what everyone was laughing about, but were too late. Suckers.

So. Mr Driver on the 295, you are a champ. My trip on my least favourite bus was one of the best ever. (It’s pretty hard to rate bus trips really, it’s all pretty much at one spot, except for a few memorable good ones, and a few memorable bad ones.)

A Good Week

It’s been a really good week. In addition to the stuff I wrote about here, also had dancing, saw an old family friend get married, went to a party, had church, sorted out some problems from previous week, saw K, did driving - just a bit of fun and getting my other parts of life mostly working as well.

That’s all there is really.

Prayer point: Just decided I might put it in: For R, I hope you find a doctor soon, and that you and your family will be ok. Lots of love mate.

Music

Let’s face it, music is something that everyone loves. There are few things that all the different warring countries, states, cities, people around the world could agree on, but I think that almost everyone can say they like at least one song.

Usually when I listen to my iPod, I have it on a playlist of most of the songs I think I would listen to, and then randomly skim through them till I actually come to one I want to hear. Today I decided to let it be, and so it randomly shuffled through the list and I refused to change. It was cool, because it did mean I discovered new songs or heard ones I hadn’t in a long time.

I’ve also been playing a lot of piano lately, because I love playing. I used to hate it and never want to practice, but that’s because it was practice. But without that, I wouldn’t be able to play whatever I want for fun now.

Below is a song (thanks to Pfeff-face) that I heard two days ago, taught myself yesterday, and am now loving playing.

Motivation

Last week I cracked it at myself and decided that it was time to shape up my act. I wasn’t feeling ‘close to God’, as lots of people say, but if I wasn’t actively trying to include time in my day for God or reflection or reading or anything, what right did I have to complain? So I drew up a life timetable, with all the things I need to do organised so that I use my time better. I’ve got study time, TAWG (Time along with God) time, exercise time, sleep, free time each day.

I started it today and it went really well. I felt really productive and motivated to do things. I taught myself a song on piano, did my exercises, had some God time, did some study, spent time with K, and felt good about things altogether. I know it’s just the first day of the plan, but hopefully it keeps on working. I’m glad for today’s success at least.

Opportunity

I love how how much opportunity I’ve been given in life to do just about anything. Today I was given the opportunity to speak during communion. It was along the lines of the theme: “Just Walk Across The Room”, which is about making the effort to reach out to people and leaving our comfort zones.

I just think it’s awesome that anyone can talk and share during church, and hope that other people are given the opportunity too. I also have the opportunity to study, to travel, to work in the job of my choice, to do dancing classes, so many awesome things.

So thanks for that.
